What Can QGNC Youth Expect?

Youth will engage in our Storytelling Lab where they’ll have the opportunity to connect with their mentors and peers through storytelling. Youth will receive supplies for all activities. Storytelling Lab is a six week program.

Hosted by David Crabb (Risk!, The Moth, Author), youth will take a six-week journey with their mentors through the power of storytelling. What are storytelling arcs? How can I use the power of my story in other parts of my life? What moments in your life make great stories. Youth will learn new methods and approaches to identifying true, engaging personal stories that they might not have realized they had in them. We end this lab with a storytelling showcase where both mentors and youth will have the opportunity to share their newly developed stories.

QGNC Youth

Program Times & Location

Programming will be fully virtual Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM PT - 5:30 PM PT. We will also host three in person (optional) events with exciting guests and activities.

Storytelling Lab Kits

In addition to meeting new friends, gaining mentors, and going through 6 weeks of exciting activities each youth will receive a Storytelling Lab Kit. The kit will include items such as: t-shirts, stickers, wristbands, and all the materials for our interactive activities. All of this is included with the program!

QGNC Youth must meet the following criteria to participate:

• Location - Must live in Los Angeles County

• Age - 13-17 Years Old.

• Time - Commitment to 6 weeks of programming (February 26 - April 9)

• QGNC - Must be exploring or part of the Queer and Gender Nonconforming Community. For those exploring, we welcome you with open arms as we know you may not know for certain (questioning) and we want to give you the space and community to discover.

QGNC Mentors

Program Times & Location

Programming will be fully virtual Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM PT - 5:30 PM PT. We will also host three in person (optional) events with exciting guests and activities.

Storytelling Lab Kits

Our mentors are changing lives in six short weeks. By putting in their own time to lift up and empower the next generation of youth, all mentors will receive a Storytelling Lab Kit. The kit will include: t-shirts, wristbands, pens, materials for all our activities, and much more. We want all mentors to experience the program too!

QGNC Mentors must meet the following criteria to participate:

• Location - Must live in Los Angeles County.

• Age - Minimum age 21 years old.

• Time - Commitment to 6 weeks of programming (February 26 - April 9)

• Training - Commitment to a two day training (February 24 - February 26)

• Background Check & TBI Test - Must go through a live scan and TB Test.

• QGNC - Must be part of the Queer and Gender Nonconforming Community. We love our advocates and we will have future opportunities for you!
