A Bold Summer, Made Possible — Thank You, SoCalGas

Summer is here, and at Rainbow Labs, that means one thing: One Bold Summer is back.

Our premier summer day camp returns this July for four weeks of STEM, arts, sports, and leadership — all in a space built for LGBTQ+ youth to learn, play, and grow alongside queer peers and mentors who truly get them.

This isn't your average summer camp. Campers dive into hands-on projects, get creative, move their bodies, and build the kind of confidence that only comes from being fully seen. They'll also venture beyond our walls on field trips to standout LA destinations like The Broad, where the ideas they explore in camp come to life in the real world. And youth who complete the full program earn a $1,000 educational scholarship — a direct investment in the futures they're already imagining.

None of this would be possible without SoCalGas.

For five years running, SoCalGas has stood behind One Bold Summer. Over that time, their support has helped us deliver:

250+ LGBTQ+ youth served across Los Angeles County

50 LGBTQ+ adult mentors showing up as role models and guides

20 weeks of free, affirming summer programming

200 hours of unique LGBTQ+ youth development experiences

Behind every one of those numbers is a young person who found a place to belong. Their partnership has given Rainbow Labs the privilege of keeping our doors open through the summer months, so queer young people always have a space to grow in community — and walk away more confident, more connected, and more themselves.

That kind of consistency matters. Five years of support means five summers our youth will never forget.

Here's what a few of last summer's campers had to say:

“I think I've become less shy, and I feel like I connected with more people, and that now it feels like I have something to do instead of just being bored and at home all day.   It allows me to get to know more people that I can relate to in one way or another.” - Lucas

“I feel like I've gained a lot of confidence, and I would recommend this to any, especially any queer child who has, you know, those issues with confidence and going out in public and being themselves. It's not some magic hero, but it helps to be surrounded by people who are like you and who share your identity and your struggles.” - Liliana

To everyone at SoCalGas: thank you. Your generosity hasn't just given our youth an unforgettable summer — it's an investment in who they're becoming.

Here's to One Bold Summer.
