Pride in Bloom flips the Museum experience on its head–adorning it with feathers and a whole lot of heart. From the fierce resilience of creatures that transform and adapt to the dazzling diversity of our planet, this celebration invites you to embrace the beauty of change and self-expression.
Co-created with the artists of Drag Arts Lab, Inc., this event's special drag show is the art of drag with the wonders of natural science. Pride in Bloom explores how nature's evolution and community resilience beautifully intertwine. Enjoy a mini-resource fair featuring incredible community-based organizations, a rainbow scavenger hunt connecting Pride flag symbolism to the Museum's collections, a pronoun pin-making station where you can craft your wearable pride (while supplies last), and talk with Museum Educators to discover surprising stories of transformation and resilience in the Museum's collections.
Additional activities include:
Museum Pop-Up Presentations: Led by our educators, connecting the drag show to the Museum’s collections through interactive storytelling.
Progress Flag Scavenger Hunt: A playful and educational activity highlighting the symbolism and history of the Pride flag.
Pride in Bloom Resource Fair: Featuring Community Partners sharing resources and stories on the brand.
