Policy Lab
The Policy Lab is where LGBTQ+ youth become changemakers. In partnership with the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Youth Center, this Lab is for teens who want to speak up, shape policy, and build safer, more inclusive communities. You'll be at the center of local advocacy efforts—using your lived experience to push for real change.
With guidance from mentors and local partners, you’ll learn how to research issues, speak to decision-makers, and build coalitions that protect LGBTQ+ rights and amplify youth voices across California.

That’s totally okay! The Policy Lab is built for beginners. You don’t need to have any background in politics or advocacy. We’ll guide you through everything step by step, and you’ll be learning alongside other youth who are just getting started too.

Yes! One of the coolest parts of Policy Lab is the opportunity to connect with real decision-makers—like school board members, city officials, or state legislators. You’ll learn how to speak up, ask questions, and share your story in ways that make a difference.

The Policy Lab takes place in the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas. Sessions happen in-person at community spaces that are safe, welcoming, and affirming for LGBTQ+ youth. We also include field trips and special events where you can engage with leaders and explore advocacy in action.
